Still Aren't Worried About Climate Change? Here's Some Reasons Why You Should

Do you like maple syrup on your pancakes?
You might want to get used to just butter. Warmer winters are causing problems with sugar maples in New England forests. Maples rely on cold winter temperatures to begin sap production. The confusing weather is throwing them off and they are producing less sap which equals less maple syrup available. An American tradition is in jeapordy; American maple harvesters may be out of a job as the cold weather moves further North into Canada and the climate in New England no longer supports sugar maple growth.
A Problem with Champagne? This IS Serious
Global Warming isn't just affecting Polar Bears, it may be jeopardizing your celebratory drink of choice.
Did you know that Champagne is only called 'Champagne' when it's from the Champagne region of France? Everything else is just 'sparkling wine.' The warmer weather is affecting the sugar and acid levels of grapes in that region, therefore affecting the taste of the Champagne produced there.
If the region's climate keeps changing and affecting the grapes- authentic Champagne will go extinct! Doing a 'sparkling wine toast' at a wedding just doesn't sound (or taste) the same.
Still don't care? OK, What about a change for Baseball?
Baseball's America's favorite pastime, right? And the most important tool in Baseball is bat. Well, some of the finest baseball bats are made from the Ash tree. The Ash tree's future is in trouble because the changing climate is allowing bark beetles to migrate into their forests.
Before, the beetle was kept at bay when cold winters killed them off- they are now able to move further and multiply faster because the deep freezes aren't as long or as harsh. This is bad news for baseball- dying Ash forests means less wood to make bats. Bat makers might decide to start switching to alternative woods-but who knows when the beetles will start effecting those trees too.
